When I was a child growing up in a small town called Grande Cache, my friends and I would walk to the horse barns and admire all of the horses there. We would stay there for hours petting them and wishing one day we would own our own. Fast forward 20 years or so. I was so excited when I found the Clear Water Horse Club here in Fort McMurray! My daughter and I would go there and spend hours petting and walking around. I still dreamt of having a horse and learning all about them, one of the horse owners there told us about the 4H club, and I immediately contacted the 4H leader, to enroll my daughter. We had to wait a year because she was only 8 years old and you had to be 9.

Here are our first few trips there.

When my daughter turned 11 and was in the 4H for a couple of years I promised her when she turned 15 that I would get her a horse, but secretly it was going to be my horse too. Sssshhhhh, don't tell her!

When she turned 15, which seemed like a hot minute. We shopped around, found our horse, and found a few that were great but not what we were looking for.

We found 'Who's Mr. Oz,' and we call him Ozzy. He is special to us and he is our most amazing animal to date. He is a smaller horse in the horse world at 14.3 hands and he is perfect for us! We love him so much! As you can see he is no giant but he is a giant in our hearts.

It was a cold winter/spring evening with friends for a birthday party and the evening ended by catching the night lights. I did not dress for the weather, simply because I did not know where we were going and I thought it was not far. Into the woods, we went with my little white sneakers, tripod and camera. My friend showed me how to capture the lights on our first stop and what settings I needed. At the second stop, it was a little farther into the woods and the snow was deep! My feet were freezing as the night grew darker and the lights danced for us. We were all chatting about how to get the night lights to dance for us in the most respectful way, so we did that. This is one of the shots I got; for the first time, I am quite proud! Thank you to all of my friends for helping me whenever I have annoying questions, it is appreciated more than you know!
